Intermarriage was illegal here too. When she and I got married people were still being jailed for inter racial marriage.

A sticky topic to be sure because it can be hard to tell exactly where the moral line is and we are heavily incentivized to push it back as far as possible. The cost for determining a law to be immoral and refusing to follow it can be extremely high. Particularly if our fellow citizens disagree with our assessment. It is very hard for otherwise comfortable people to give it all away on principle.
In answer to your question no we shouldn't obey immoral laws, but a very difficult and risky choice in practice.

As for where the "moral line" is.......it's like what they say about pornography.......you know it when you see it. I agree with you that following moral guidelines when they conflict with the law, is a difficult and risky thing to do. Everyone has to search their own heart to know what to do.

SSgt Gary Andrews - I agree that we personally know it when we see it. It may take us a bit to come to grips with accepting it for what it is, but sure. Of course, also like art not everyone agrees with what "it" is either.
For example, that girl who leaked classified information may have personally thought she was following a moral imperative and so was justified in breaking the law. Most of us probably don't agree and regardless she is likely about to pay a high price for that action.
Another example would be that the Clive Bundy group may have thought they were justified in having an armed standoff with federal officials and making a moral stand. Many people disagree with that too. For whatever reason they did not pay a high price but most certainly could have.

Good examples of people who did what they thought was right regardless of the consequences. Everyone may not agree with their actions, but you have to admire their conviction.

I had family members who, because of their religion, thought my interracial marriage was immoral. and our children had no souls. Please don't infer that GOD is involved
