I did actually. Clearly eclipses happen, but the sun never stops shining. Plus it's still a fictional event that never actually occurred, so no, didn't happen.

Kinda like asking "did Mount Doom REALLY erupt because the One Ring was thrown in, or was it going to erupt anyway? The existence of volcanoes do not corroborate the exist of Mordor.
