I would struggle to get in a good workout with the lack of weights in Planet Fitness. I'd be better off going to a park with bands and a weighted vest.

PO3 Steven Sherrill, its specifically for those who are looking to lose weight - cardio and weight machines without heavy free weights.

But as SFC (Join to see) said, its cringe for hardcore lifters and any type of athlete to have minimal free weights - dumbbells only up to 50 pounds.

SGT (Join to see) - Ours has fixed barbells up to 50, but dumbbells up to 100. The free weights are mostly a joke as they have that rack that takes some of the weight regardless. Only having three racks for "free" weights means waiting around while others work, so it really is not efficient. Unless of course one goes really late evening/early morning. I totally agree with you that it is not for serious lifters and hardcore athletes. Even for weight loss and general fitness there will come a time when it is no longer effective.

PO3 Steven Sherrill - Sounds like you're talking about the Smith Machine. Yeah, again, even with injury recovery you have to upgrade to free weights at some point because that's how our body works - freely. Up to 100 is okay for dumbbells. No free weight barbells past 50 is horrible.
