Very interesting, so are we looking at them from jaded and muddy glasses, or are we truly as "open" as we claim? I bet if this was posted on a more mainstream site, there would be 500 "experts" on Islam and Shariah Law who are not Muslim at all, and only wrote papers decrying Shariah Law based off eyewitness experience but no personal insight of their own. It would appear we have a LOT more to learn than we are giving to them.

Sure. Here in America where Muslim women can actually get educated without losing their head. Literally.

SPC Carr is correct. The Quran is very clear on the treatment of women. It is the fundamentalists that have corrupted the message. The treatment of women we see in the Middle-East, and elsewhere, is more of a cultural thing than a religious thing.

Christians have no room to speak about the treatment of women. The Church has been very critical about strong women, even went so far as to burn thousands of strong women for witchcraft.

Never forget that while Christian Europe was in the stranglehold of the Dark Ages, the Muslim Middle-East was making huge breakthroughs in Astronomy, mathematics and medicine.

Very interesting statistics, all of which make me wonder, are Muslim-Americans really Muslim?

Of course. Have you ever visited a mosque in the United States? I recommend doing so just to get that experience.

Capt Gregory Prickett - actually, his claims put me in mind of non-observant Jews, ones who don't keep kosher. What he's describing Observant Muslims would call apostates
