Yes, we had Billets there for PW. We also had some in swamp forest area down near Orlando. That is the one thing people don't know about us (Seabees/NAVFAC), is we have some crazy and cool jobs and orders all over the US and World.

Not sure if it's still the case but NSWC Crane, NAVSEA was where we sent aged or unserviceable small arms and components for destruction. When on float across the globe it was a pain shipping bad weapons or components back because of limited access to US Postal facilities. Every serialized item had to be shipped back by registered mail or similar traceable means, and if ashore it was hard to maintain the strict chain of custody via Naval post office afloat. There was what we called the Crane Report to track disposition and once shipped it was followed with Naval Message to stay in conformity with regulations. This was all to ensure that military (automatic) weapons and components were tracked to ensure they didn't fall in the wrong hands.
