Butterflies have it tough enough already, what with having to worry about getting eaten by giant aliens and all. Giving their enemies a knife specially designed to kill them is beyond cruel.

It's weird, I think some lawmakers tried to classify it as a type of gravity knife......unsure honestly. There is a negative depiction of Butterfly knives, like the article said, seen in films such as Kick-Ass. Personally, I don't think any type of knife should be illegal.

Why?
Because it was used in movies by bad guys spinning them around and scaring people so our bold legislators had to protect us.

Same way that so called "Assault Weapons" look scary so they want to ban them too.

PS make sure you know which way the latch and blade face. I had a cheap knock off butterfly knife that's latch was on the opposite side of the sharp edge of the blade from a real Bali-Song knife. Thankfully I was very smooth and the blade barely nicked the backs of my fingers.
