The "wall," representing a more secure border with Mexico, is a good idea. If it costs us $12 billion or $21 billion, it's still cheaper than the $113-billion in government benefits (our tax money) that illegal aliens cost US Taxpayers every year. If the wall keeps out only half of the illegal aliens and illegal drugs that come across the Southern Border, it's a good deal in my opinion.

There are many ways the US Government can recoup the cost of the wall from Mexico. Reduce foreign aid to Mexico, tax imports from Mexico, tax or eliminate the transfer of money from workers in the US to Mexico (remittance). Sell seized property of illegal alien drug lords found in the US. There's probably many other ways I haven't named because I 'm not an expert. We have lots of people in the Government who are experts in these areas. If they will follow the directions of the President and his Secretaries (AG, Commerce, DHS, Labor) we can fully compensate the American Taxpayers for the cost of the wall.

SFC Shirley Whitfield - Toll roads build highways. Not even a $1.00 per day, per person?

SFC Shirley Whitfield - Last time I heard, migrant workers in Agriculture are getting $150.00 per day! I am old enough (70) that that seems like a lot. So, $1.00 per day to work in the USA is reasonable to me.

Over 100 countries, including Mexico have a border tax. It is called a VAT, value added tax and buried in the cost of our products. The US government, used to be largely funded by these tariffs prior to the establishment of the income tax in the early 1900s.
The US kept hoping that everyone else would drop their VAT, that will not happen, these countries are already Statist and have a dependency on cronyism.
If the border was respected, we wouldn't need a wall. When Mexico stops allowing other people to pass through their country to get to ours maybe we won't need it.
I find it odd that no MSM calls the Mexican wall with Guatemala 'racist'.
Countries must control their borders or we cease to be a nation of laws.

Exactly. Every other nations in the world seems to take advantage of us and when we ask for something we are capitalistic pigs.

Sir, You certainly point out some very valid issues including the wall Mexico had between them and their Southern Neighbors. That would be akin to us transporting people from our Southern border then helping them across the border to Canada so We would have to deal with them. It seems that is exactly what Mexico is doing !

I am still scratching my head and wondering why Mexico thinks it has any say in what happens North of their border? Perhaps past diplomatic kow-towing to them has led them to misinterpret how little influence they have in what we do in our own country?

Maj Marty Hogan - The other thing is the viewpoint of the Mexican people is not well represented in our media. You will never see an American reporter in Mexico doing a man on the street interview outside of a "safe" haven in Mexico City. I usually do not throw around the term but I tend to think of that as a little racist. If your not willing to convass the country of Mexico for opinions, don't choose to be a news reporter. I heard they did the same thing during most of the Iraq war, reported primarily from the Green Zone.

The Mexican government doesn't have much of a say in Mexico, they are trying to exert authority somewhere! SPC Erich Guenther
