Thanks for sharing about traumatic brain injury (TBI), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and toxic brain injury and assessment technologies such as Cerescan COL Mikel J. Burroughs.
Thankfully others besides service members experience the ravages of TBI and PTSD. That is why there has been long research into identifying, managing, and treating TBI and PTSD.
As a military and a nation we have come a long way from disparaging comments and looking down on the sufferers of shell shock from many including George Patton.
We still have a way to go but I believe progress is being made in leaps and bounds.

This is a fantastic find! I actually just started my Senior capstone project for my bachelors on the incidents of TBI and PTSD in 18-45 year old OEF/OIF veterans. My research will look at the potential for missed diagnosis of TBI in favor of PTSD. My theory rooted in perception of "memory loss/ issues", where both PTSD and TBI share this symptom for different reasons. Long story short, I believe the VA has under diagnosed TBI, which differs from memory problems associated with PTSD. PTSD may and often causes a period of memory issues, while TBI should be sustained and worsening memory issues over time. When I get to the surveying portion, I hope that my brothers and sisters on RP will help either to add credence or disprove my theory.
I appreciate your wish to keep us informed sir!

I know I've had serious memory issues over the years that have been attributed to not only the PTSD/MST but also some of the meds I take for migraine prevention. I'd be interested to see just how twisted my brain looks compared to a "normal" one (if there is such a thing)!

Although I do not fall into your data area, I believe that many are not looking at another problem. Especially in Arty and Armor. The VA does look at hearing loss, but ignores the military findings. I had a level 1 Hearing Profile. They also seem to ignore concussions. Especially what is referred to as mini concussions caused by firing these weapons. The effect on the brain is traumatic over time. If you need help with any of this let me know.

I'm really interested to see what it looks like in my brain.
I think I've been missing a few nails here and there.
