I watch the news a lot I enjoy the news heck one of my favorite shows is 60 minutes and when I see countries taking in refugees and most of those refugees being military aged males not women and children I shake my head and then when I see those countries have increased terrorists incidents I say I knew this was going to happen

Sgt Oleary: I have made the same observation regarding the age and gender of these refuges. I have advocated for sending these military age males into training camps to be trained and equipped to return to fight for their homes. Can you just imagine 1 million men, trained equipped and motivated in the field against ISIS and/or Assad in the field. Some would die but they would persevere and they would win. Sitting on an upside down bucket in Detroit, Philadelphia, or Minneapolis recieving a handout from our government is simply unacceptable. Fight and reclaim what is yours. #Extream Vetting.

I only watch the news to get the weather, and even then they call for rain and it ends up being sunny! Lol.... no pun intended, just haven't trusted the news since I enlisted and saw first hand what they like to report and what they should report.
I agree not spreading nation wide panic, but waiting till it's too late to report the truth in my opinion can have even more devastating results!

Improved vetting would be good- but did he go a bit to far? Maybe not far enough? I am in favor of this while we determine what that process is going to be and have it implemented soon- but would like to see how it was determined to select the countries on the list and the others that were omitted. Great information in this share SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL

SSG Robert Webster - Very simple the nation's that the 911 attackers came from are not on the list. The Saudis who are the primary sponsors o f Sunning terrorist and Jihad ism are not on the list.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - Since you have been through the process, you should know what I am referencing and should take counsel in that. Next, you are quite correct that Congress took the power to approve/disapprove out of Commander's hands over 50 years ago, but it would be wise to note that the basic process is still there for a reason. And as a wise General officer told me at the time, SGT Webster it is in YOUR best interest to go through and follow the process. I could have skipped the process for the reason that you give and I could have skipped the process since, when I did follow through with the marriage I no longer fell under that command. One thing that I learned from following through with the military process - It made it a whole lot easier to go through the immigration process. I also found out a year later why I never met my one aunt (you would think that someone stationed at a US Embassy wouldn't fall into that trap).
But then what should I expect from someone that supports the United Nations International Organization for Migration?

SSG Robert Webster - I followed the process when I got marriednwhile.stationed at OAK in the early 80s. When I was was am SNCO at Kuban the base commander was a bigot that was later removed for cause. If the folks had followed along with his policy they would not have been married. The current policies help in honorable hands but there was a reason that Congress acted how they did, the military proved it could not be trusted in this area.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - Trying to back peddle now? Unless I am mistaken, are you trying to say that you got married while stationed at Osan Air Base Korea in the early 80's? I am also very sure that we did not have any Air Force personnel at Kuban Air Base Russia, I will have to assume that you are trying to refer to Kunsan Air Base Korea. Interesting that I also was stationed in Korea at Camp Bonifas in 1994. Also interesting that both the S2 and the HHC CO were married to Koreans. Interesting that you would mention the base commander of Kunsan during the period that you were a SNCO, that would coincide to a time period shortly after the 1986 Marriage Fraud Amendments to the INA wouldn't it? Knowing the obstacles put in place by the military so try and keep young men and women from making a mistake, I am not surprised, but then you calling the individual a bigot without stating proof other than airman that followed the process put in place by the command may not have gotten married is not proof of bigotry. A commander can be relieved for cause for a number of actions. But since the policy of marriage counseling has to go through both the JAG and the Chaplains office, I think that you are full of yourself. If the Base Commander was relieved for cause for being a bigot, I would really like to know his name and the actual base and the actual charge.

"We're no longer going to be the country that doesn't know what it's doing,"
We weren't but now I'm sure we will be. Oh and I don't have a huge problem with reevaluating refugees from Syria and these other nations. However if the point was to keep terrorists out why didn't he start with Saudi Arabia? Hell 19 hijackers came from Saudi and they practice Wahabiism which is a pretty radical form of Islam. Oh that's right we get oil from them.

SSG (Join to see) - Not a damn thing to do with Barrack Law 101.
First of all, I could pull my records from 1981 to 1983 both military and civilian where I had to go through the process of asking permission to get married OCONUS and the Visa application process that went with it. Though certain aspects of immigration law and the INA have changed, it really has not changed that much since then except for the changes due to 9/11; and those changes were actually in line with what was already in the INA.
I have also been through the Naturalization procedure as a sponsor, also.
And not once have I had to hire an attorney for immigration in the 35 years that I have had to deal with ICE, CBP, and DHS. Though I probably should have in one instance, but then it would have been a waste of time and money.
