Indeed, SGT (Join to see). According to their web site, Navient got into the health care payment business in 2015. The company was separated from Sallie Mae in 2014. Sallie Mae services all student loans now courtesy of the Affordable Care Act, which had included in it the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act as part of the reconciliation bill passed Christmas Eve 2009 (to avoid a filibuster...remember?). Sallie Mae dates back to the 1970s. So now we have the case of the federal government suing one of its own children to address a problem (student loan repayment) of its own making. I guess the coming GM-style bailout for student loans may be too expensive (see below) unless we find some other revenue sources. All told, another success bequeathed to the American populace by the outgoing Administration.

Obama rule making it easier for students to bail on loans draws taxpayer fire
If that Ivy League philosophy degree doesn’t result in the career of your dreams, cheer up: You may be able to have your student loans forgiven by claiming you were misled by the university.
