Is there a similar bill on tap in the Senate or will this one be taken up by the Senate as is? As I recall both houses of the Congress have to pass legislation and the President must sign for it to become law.

This is a bad idea all around. Why on earth are we protecting anyone in Syria? Both sides hate us. Let that kill each other off. Why would we risk war with Russia there?

Gosh I really dislike this blog or whatever they call it. This is a mash of information and horrible reporting- here is a link to the bill: https://www.congress.gov/bill/114th-congress/house-bill/5732/text

They have mixed truths, facts and non facts and non truths to make this article. Please look at when HR 5732 was introduced. For instance the No Fly Zone portion mentioned- here are the instances in the bill and what they say:
1. TITLE III—REPORTS AND WAIVER FOR HUMANITARIAN-RELATED
ACTIVITIES WITH RESPECT TO SYRIA
Sec. 301. Report on monitoring and evaluating of ongoing assistance programs
in Syria and to the Syrian people.
Sec. 302. Report on certain persons who are responsible for or complicit in certain
human rights violations in Syria.
Sec. 303. Assessment of potential effectiveness of and requirements for the establishment
of safe zones or a no-fly zone in Syria.
Sec. 304. Assistance to support entities taking actions relating to gathering evidence
for investigations into war crimes or crimes against humanity
in Syria since March 2011.

2. 19 SEC. 303. ASSESSMENT OF POTENTIAL EFFECTIVENESS OF
20 AND REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ESTABLISH21
MENT OF SAFE ZONES OR A NO-FLY ZONE IN
22 SYRIA.

3. to the appropriate congressional committee a report
2 that—
3 (1) assesses the potential effectiveness, risks,
4 and operational requirements of the establishment
5 and maintenance of a no-fly zone over part or all of
6 Syria, including—

4. (1) assesses the potential effectiveness, risks,
4 and operational requirements of the establishment
5 and maintenance of a no-fly zone over part or all of
6 Syria, including—
7 (A) the operational and legal requirements
8 for United States and coalition air power to es9
tablish a no-fly zone in Syria;

5. (B) the impact a no-fly zone in Syria
11 would have on humanitarian and counterter12
rorism efforts in Syria and the surrounding re13
gion; and

6. (C) the potential for force contributions
15 from other countries to establish a no-fly zone

There is one more which is a reiteration of number 1 above

So in essence, yes the report is incorrect in saying tht a passage of a bil for a no fly zone has been done, when in actuality it is more of an assessment concerning a possible no fly zone.

FYI I downloaded the bill in PDF, perused thru is and then searched for instances of No Fly Zone

SGT (Join to see) - Section 303 is what we call a seed, why did they plant that seed? So they could water it. Not to save the Blue Heron that may fly through that area....Just my opinion from watching past performances.

This would not be the first time such was mentioned by our congress or senate so it should not come as a surprise. I also think that if research was done, something similar may have been proposed and/or proposed and adopted in some form or fashion.
