TO BE CLEAR: Medical marijuana is not the same as Purple Haze. Marijuana is composed of several totally different components--THC gets you high, and CBD gives the medicinal effects. Medical MJ is bred to be heavy on CBD and low in THC. Also, MMJ is often reduced to its oils so it can be put into food. I know many terminally ill persons use MMJ in their feeding tubes to reduce anxiety, pain, and inflammation.

Those of us who remember Toledo Windowbox also know why it's called marijuana instead of its proper name--cannabis. A Mexican-sounding name was used to make immigrants look bad.

Do you have a source for the 20 cigs thing? I'm not calling you out. I'm genuinely interested. 20 cigs' worth of what? Certainly not nicotine. So I'm confused by the statement.

I googled it. We also had studies by state and legislative leaders. I'm looking at it as would I want my kids to do it? I also know a lot of smokers that used as gateway and also now in 50s and 60s are dying. Brain, lung and other cancers. Is it related, I don't have statistical proof either way.

TSgt Frank Shirley - I believe you're thinking of recreational MJ, which is loaded with THC to get you high. Medical MJ is typically low in THC and heavy in CBD, which does not get you high and so cannot lead to "harder drugs."

CPT (Join to see) - I had heard this same statistic many years ago. It Said that recreational marijuana causes cancer at a greater rate, but as Capt Greene stated medical MJ isn't the same. Besides if you already have cancer why would you be concerned with getting it in the years that follow. When my father was taken to the Hospital for the last time he took two packs of Chesterfields with him. His words were "will it kill me quicker?".
