More than 40 Lake Wales and Frostproof residents gathered last week to help one of Frostproof’s heroes celebrate his 95th birthday.

Abner Aust, the last World War II flying ace was joined by dozens of friends and family members at Manny’s Steak House in Lake Wales to be regaled by the war hero’s recollections and help him celebrate his 95th birthday.

Outstanding!!! I love these old fellas. I've had the pleasure of meeting Col (Ret) Enoch Woodhouse - one of the last of the Tuskegee Airmen. (He was logistics or something like that, not a pilot).
