SSgt (Join to see), I moved to Memphis in late November, 1977, after Elvis died on August 12th of that year. Graceland soon thereafter was opened for touring. I lived nearby, and visited Graceland a number of times. Back then, a tour was a piece of cake. You simply walked up to the "music note" gates, paid a nominal entry fee at a manned kiosk, and walked up the drive and into the house. Some areas were blocked off, of course, but the Jungle Room was available for all to see. It was absolutely one of the ugliest rooms I've ever seen! There was green shag carpet on the floor, walls and ceiling!
Nowadays, the least you can pay is $38+, you're bussed to Graceland from across the street, and it can take hours. I'm glad I got to see it when it was easy! SFC George Smith SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL SGT Robert George MAJ Rene De La Rosa SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth

Interestingly enough, SSgt (Join to see), the tower is located in Brentwood, which is about 15 miles south of Nashville!

That seems a bit far from WSM. LTC Stephen C. Not sure of they are country again or even does the Grand Ole Opry. I am Meteorologist Mike Scott, on AM-650 W-S-M, in Nashville. lol

SSgt (Join to see), WSM is still country, still the home of the GOO, and the WSM tower has been in that very spot since 1932!

My wife wants to go there someday, I might need a small Swiss bank account.
