Very moving tribute. Many will not know that Kris Kristofferson, who narrated the introduction, is quite a story as well. Growing up in a military family, his dad (an Air Force 2-Star) pushed him toward a military career. After college--where he excelled in both the classroom (magna sum laude grad from Pomona College and a Rhodes Scholar) and the athletic field (rugby, football, track and boxing) including a mention in "Sports Illustrated"--he began a five year stint in the US Army. Mr Kristofferson earned his wings as a helicopter pilot at Fort Rucker. his Ranger Tab at Benning and was offered an instructor-ship at West Point prior to leaving the service in 1965. Disowned by his family for not continuing in the military he has, nonetheless, been a strong advocate for veterans and, in 2003, was given the American Veterans Award as "Veteran of the Year" in 2011.
