Yes we have. Thank our news outlets for being used more for entertainment rather than information. Thank our politicians that chose to be more about flash than about substance. Thank our government that feels that spending time arguing about the issue of the day is more important that leading. Lastly, thank ourselves for allowing it to happen through our apathy, unwillingness to compromise or even listen to anything outside of our own beliefs, and our collective laziness and our willingness to be spoon-fed our opinions.

Agree completely. That someone so obnoxious and repugnant as Donald Trump is actually a major party nominee shows how far we have fallen as a people. I am disgusted.

It was a fun article, I cannot argue that one. However, if had focused on the fact that this dumbing down of our society does not recognize party lines it could be taken more seriously.

The fact is that few people today bother to go the extra mile when it comes to educating themselves. For example, how is it possible that Hillary can convince so many people that she was unaware of what made information classified? I have no doubt there are ilinformed folks within the Trump camp. Just as I have no doubt the same could be said of the Clinton camp. The fact is the American public and our laziness made the 2016 election possible. The vast majority of us don't even know enough nowadays to hold those tasked/or those that would be takes with representing us accountable. Guess what folks, that is exactly what these high and mighty politicians want.

SFC Christopher Perry - I have a full-time job, a family and am still serving, so my time is precious and trying to explain things to people who are inflexible and immune to facts is a tremendous waste of time.

I also find that listening to religious zealots or political extremists makes me angry, and life is too short to be angry, especially with people I don't even know.

I block them for my blood pressure, and because I'm still serving I don't want to say something in anger that a potential superior or subordinate will see.

LTC (Join to see) - Self control is a beautiful thing. I find that conversations with those that don't necessarily agree with me help me grow as a person. Hiding inside ones safe place leads one to be narrow minded.

The fact that someone does not agree with you does not make them a political extremist. However, going off the deep end, calling names and blocking those people might.

LTC (Join to see) - My time is precious as well. I try to use it in the most valuable ways possible. Productive conversations with open minded people on here is one. Which means, that while I will not do something as childish as blocking you, I see no further value in conversing with you.

@Maj Andrew Fishkin SFC Christopher Perry don't worry Maj, Army killed my feelings a long time ago. I'll take it as a Badge of Honor. But kinda is like the "take my football and run home" mentally. May be retired from military, but I have a full time job too. Just a little advice, don't put it out there if you don't want to have someone criticize or oppose your stance on anything. Just saying, watch your blood pressure.
