Bio
My time in the Army in the mid eighties and early nineties helped make me the man I became. My return to the Army in 2007 was my way of paying the Army back for all it had given me in life. I would never have guessed that the Army would be so much more fun in my 40s than it was in my 20s. I would not trade this adventure for anything.
My fifteen year break in service was spent predominately in the car business. I was a closer for a while, in charge of inventory and I was even the evil guy behind the desk for a while. However, what I really enjoyed was being on the sales floor. My five years with Autoflex was the highlight of my sales career. The last two years as a civilian were spent doing credit counseling/restoration. We specialized in assisting military members.
Military Experiences
Apr 2012 - Apr 2015
Antiterrorism/Physical Security/OPSEC/Emergency Management Officer
Responsible for overseeing the Anti-terrorism, Physical Security, OPSEC and Emergency Management programs for the three training brigades and six directorates. This includes all training and assessments to ensure compliance with the individual requirements for each individual program. My shop is also responsible for all the day to day functions of these programs at the TRADOC level.
Feb 2009 - Apr 2012
Master Gunner
I started off as the assistant squad leader for the radar squad, but transitioned pretty quickly to squad leader. I was asked to take over as the HQ Platoon Sergeant and Master Gunner.
Oct 2007 - Feb 2009
Commo Section Member
The 11th Signal BDE patch on my arm landed me in the Commo Section. Great group of folks and a nice beginning to my new leg as an air defender.
1990 - 1992
Tropo Operator
I reenlisted to get back to the U.S. for a while. I arrived just in time to see the trucks miraculously turning from green to sand. Realized very quickly that my return stateside would be rather short lived. The lion's share of this assignment was spent in Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield/Desert Storm.
Deployments
(8 months)Oct 1990 - May 1991
Saudi Arabia
We were Tropo Dogs, stuck in the middle of the Desert. We provided the commo link for the major command and PATRIOT. We learned how to do pretty much everything in NBC gear.
