Thanks for reminding us about the basic metrics of warfare which include tons of bombs dropped on and rockets launched against North Vietnam between February 1965 and August 17, 1968 SP5 Mark Kuzinski.
Bomb and rocket inertial guidance-systems and smart technology has made the munitions much more accurate than the 1960s as well as significantly more costly.
Operation Rolling Thunder and similar operations did a lot of damage to the infrastructure of North Vietnam. Unfortunately the communist propaganda machine persuaded politicians to halt the bombing. The North engaged in total war but we stopped well short of total war in Korea and in Vietnam.

We were on a mountain top waiting until the LZ had been prepped by the B-52, and then artillery, and then by gun ships. It was still a hot LZ. They holed up in their caves until the bombing and artillery was finished.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski, Your Welcome. That was the only B-52 dropping bombs I saw. It was weird. You couldn't hear anything in the sky, but then here comes the bombs.

Politicians killed the herculean effort. Sad waste...positive spin don't mess with the AF as they can make it rain ordinance consistently and dangerously
