With many stores offering a 10% discount on purchases and some auto dealers offering pretty sizable discounts on vehicles; the amount of money these guys can defraud businesses out of is actually pretty substantial and they should be hammered for it.

You don’t get the discounts by merely claiming to be a vet. You have to show proof. So I don’t see how any of what you said is relevant.

Sgt Judy Leonard - its quite relevant, proof accepted is in form of DD214s, old ERBs , VA cards or retiree IDs. DD214s and ERBs can easily be doctored or produced so yeah it's relevant..

Well, grasshopper it seems like you have a lot of it's none of your business going on. Guess what nobody cares that you are pissed off. You must have forgotten about hunters and outdoors folks. "Wish in one hand and sh-- in the other and see which one will be full first." What's the backstory with you and the cops? I bet it has nothing to do with camouflaged apparel. Did any of those cops have unit patches, a military service designated anywhere on their clothing? I doubt it! I can say these things because I am retired from a 1SG/E-8 after 23 years of service. Now, wait for it. I'm also a retired Police Detective Supervisor after 25 years of service to my community. You seem to have an anger management issue. PSA, One can were a police uniform that is not against the law, what is against the law is to say he or she is in fact an LEO. Cowboy needs to read AR and DA Pam 670-1. SAPPERS, Clear the way! AATW!!!!

1SG Steven Hadley - The man did claim that he was a Vietnam vet Top, so clearly he deserved what he got.

SGT David A. 'Cowboy' Groth - I am with you on that. The issue I had with the OP was with the Cop bashing and spewing misinformation. I mentioned you because you attached yourself to his nonsense.

I personally don't like the idea of every veteran or first responder as a "hero". It really encourages this behavior.
Anyone paying half attention knows not every first responder or a veteran is a hero. While combat veteran status is important it takes away from the idea of honorable volunteer service over all and glamorizes war.
While heroic deeds should be recognized more people get killed attempting them then don't. As my Sgt's use to say the only hero is a dead one. We honor them on memorial day.
