I read the story. Sorry, but, there were no facts there, just another speculation.

Who is telling the truth? Well, frankly I don't believe anything Iran says, nor do I believe anything the president says. I have seen too many times things said that were at best a dream in the minds of the speaker.

1stSgt Nelson Kerr - It is if you are holding hostages until it is returned.

One can argue that it is justified, but not that it is not ransom.

Capt Michael Greene - No, yon don't read anything but what supports you anyway. Obsequiously, did you not read about the hostages that said they were told their plane had wait until another plane came in and if it didn't come in they would be returned to their prison?

Because you ignore the obvious? But of course, if you're a Liberal you'll just evade the question/turn it around/start insulting me because I have a different opinion/call me racist and/or sexist.

Yes, the United States owed this money, but that doesn't explain why it was paid at that paticular time. It has been owed for quite some time. As of 2014, the total dollar value of all countries' debt that owe the U. S. was $6.1 trillion. Nobody is rushing to pay it. Maybe they would if we had a bargaining chip. You can play this how ever it makes you feel. But there is no hiding the fact that it does look suspicious to be paying this debt at that exact time. And to many in America and around the world it sends a message that we did fold and paid a ransom.

I agree about the timing. Perception can be a powerful influence.

This "ransom" creates a serious problem. Once we have paid even ONE ransom "fee" there will be more kidnappings = more ransom demands. Isn't this why U.S. policy has always been to NOT deal with terrorists?
