It's not worst than the army's ACUs. I'm still waiting for some on to be held responsible for this complete failure and waste of tax payer money.

From what I understand.. the ACU is outstanding in California Blue Spruce forests.

Uniform change # what?
Maybe its time to go back to the basics. Dungarees and ship's ballcap, and coveralls for snipes.

The good thing with the recent changes is now the Army and the Navy will both be using uniforms that are appropriate for combat environments. When the changes were made in the early 2000s is was all due to the Marine Corps coming out with their new digital camo. Every other branch wanted transition to new uniforms as well which wasn't a bad idea given the research into digitized camo being a more effective pattern than the old blotch camo BDUs and DCUs. The problem came in the fact that each branch decided that they wanted to go with unique uniforms.
The Army went to the ACU which was believed to be good for many environments. It clearly wasn't and luckily they are transitioning to Scorpion type multi cam which works very well in Afghanistan and even here in the States.
The Navy went to the NWU, choosing a distinct blue camo to have a Navy look. Of course it was camouflage against nothing but water which is probably the last place a sailor wants to not be seen.
And then you've got us in the Air Force, now the last hold out on moving to a good uniform. We started by experimenting with a horrendous blue tiger stripe uniform because we are airmen so why not be the color of the sky? Luckily they sort of came to their senses and went to the ABU we have now which is the same as the Army's ACU except we stuck with a digitized tiger stripe variant and snuck slate blue in as an additional color in small areas.
I am glad to see the branches are all coming to their senses on the massive mistakes they made with the uniforms developed in the early 2000s. I only hope our new AF Chief of Staff sees the other branches and decides to have the Air Force follow suit by adopting an iteration of multi cam.
