Thanks for sharing SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL
To be honest I have no desire ever to be inside a VA Regional Office.
It is hard enough to talk to them over the phone to ever want to be in the midst of them.

Here's my 2 cents. I provided medical information to a VA regional office, NOT ratings info. In other words, when raters needed medical questions answered or needed help when trying to understand medical jargon/diagnoses/and all other sorts of confusing medical info, we provided that. In my many years of working alongside these folks, i have NEVER heard them laugh or chuckle or make fun of anyone's claim... EVER. Even when I tried to inject some 'medical humor' and 'lighten things up' in a library type setting (hush quiet), they only smiled and went back to work. They are dedicated to the job, but under pressure. They are allowed very few errors. Many are veterans. I have never seen any of them skimp or do things in such a manner to get a veteran less of what he/she deserved. In fact, I always saw them going to bat for a veteran's claim, getting the benefit of the doubt to the veteran, even if minute evidence weighed IN favor of the vet. Hence, they will do as best they can. Now, on the flip side, can you imagine what they see when the claim says "I stubbed my toe in 1942, and now my mother-in-law and my VSO say every ache and pain in my body is due to that?"
