Catch-22 [1970] scene -- It's An Egg, Sir.
For whom? For whomever sells the eggs to the mess, Sir. Martin Balsam as Col. Cathcart Richard Benjamin as Maj. Danby Buck Henry as Lt. Col. Korn Jon Voight ...
Wow what a story about B-17 old 666. I am surprised it was not made into a movie! Hard to do now with so few B-17s left. I still think this beginning of Catch-22 was classic with so many B-25s and to me it was funnier than M.A.S.H. and so anti-war and with a crazy General and an uncaring Squadron Commander.

My favorite part is Major Major.
What's your name?
Major, Sir.
I asked your name, not your rank
That is my name Sir, I am a captain, my name is Major, Captain Major
Well that's about as clear as mud
That's about what it is as clear as alright
Do you know the Squadron Commander, Major Deluth?
Yes Sir, He is a fine man
He WAS a fine man, Major Deluth is dead he died on a bombing mission this morning
I am distraught sir
You may be distraught, but Major Deluth is dead! That'll show him for going on a mission when he should be working in the office...Which means We are going to need a new Squadron Commander and since you are the only Major on our Headquarters Staff...
But Sir, I am a Captain, my NAME is Major
Well that is close enough for me, consider yourself a Major now...
But Sir....I'm in Billiting and Laundry!
People talk about me Sergeant, did you know that?
No Sir, I did not know that.
Well they do...They say "who is this Major Major that he gets to be the squadron commander without ever having flown in a PLANE!
Oh, I'm sure they are not saying that sir.

There are pics from the European theater B-17's that had just as much damage or more. Including one that was almost cut in half. Besides, that pic and the other are not the plane described in the article either. The first pic is a G model B-17. The tail number of their plane was B-17E 12666.
