I'd like to Doctor shop to get away from my current VA "doc". She's a worthless piece of shit.

I would like to as well MSG Colby, however things like this lead me to fear that I will be labeled and will not get the care that I need, so I stuck with my worthless piece of shit Doctor.

SSG Michael McKiel - Yep. Me too. If you "refuse care" they can kick you out of the system. I had a full blown colonoscopy in Feb and a when I went to my annual physical in April, she insisted on the old finger in the ass trick. She's fucking 5 foot tall and 350 pounds and had the GAUL to tell me I'm overweight at 6'4", 205lbs.
OH, and I'm an alcoholic because I play cards at the bar in town several times a week.

MSG Pat Colby - I really am terribly sorry you had to endure that, really, I know how humiliating it is, but, the way that you worded it gave me a little chuckle!! Bahahaha "the ol finger in the ass trick" yes sometimes I truly wish these VA "doctors" were subjected to the EXACT same care that they hand out! Again I am sorry MSG for you humiliation but your words!!!

SSG Michael McKiel - Speaking of that trick... Dude. You gotta hear this story....
I enlisted in Nov 1979. Got the full physical at MEPS. First time I ever got to 5th Base and he was a stranger! The guy doing the finger thing looked like a damned Professional linebacker. HUGE ass Black guy with thick fingers. Some people in your life, you never forget.
Fast forward to 1987.. I had to get a full physical (at the same MEPS) for Ranger School. Guess who was there with a rubber glove? YEP! MY old Football playing buddy! I swear to God, I busted out laughing as soon as I saw him. He didn't look amused and didn't recognize me. SAME FUCKING GUY 8 years later! How long he was doing this job before he "did" me, I haven't a clue.
All I kept thinking about was him talking to his grandkids and them asking "Grandpa, what did you do during the war?"
"Well, drop your drawers and I'll show you."
I just hope he doesn't use the same glove as he had in 1979/1987......

Actually I could make no sense of this article.
I have been dealing with a back/spine injury for decades, well before I got in the VA system.
I have tried everything under the sun and until recent epidural injections, nothing worked, but the Oxy, prescribed by my BCBS doctor at least took the edge off and allowed me to walk. In the midst of my injections, I retired and moved 3 hours away. Because of the DEA crackdowns on pill mills, my new doctor cut my pain meds overnight to 1/4. Chicken shit coward. As far as the VA goes, they have picked up all of my meds, but the pain meds. The story I get is no pain meds at all unless you have cancer, then fentanyl. Of course the numbers have dropped. They have cut everyone off and refuse to prescribe to new patients. Put those in real need in pain to control the junkies.....sounds a lot like their gun control plans. Get the government out of our doctors hair!!!

I'm one that this initiative has adversely affected. I've been on the same dosage of morphine and hydromorphone for the last 7 years. Now because I was 4mg over the 120mg limit my 'newest' VA provider wants to cut my meds by 1/4, also due to my psychiatric meds along with opiates, they want to cut that out too.
I've been on a good stable cocktail that allows me to be somewhat comfortable dealing with the public.
I've been told the psychiatric med could take up to 4 years to be completely weaned off. This is due to how it works with the body's chemistry.
I know there are a lot of Vets who won't take meds, or tell ME what I need to do. This is a very common comment I get "you need to get off your meds, you shouldn't take that crap". Well, they work for me and it took a lot of time to get the balance I have.
I hear more from non medical professionals that I'm killing myself with this stuff. I tell them, this works for me, so stop telling me what I NEED to do.
It just gets me riled up when I get told what I need to do in reference to my meds.
