I've met him, I've briefed him when he was the ISAF CSM, listed to his positions on the force, the joint force in Afghanistan and been heard on specific points I felt important. He seems to me as a genuine leader always on the lookout for a better idea, a fact or idea from the on the ground leader.

I knew him when he was a SFC and just got promoted to 1SG. that was the mid 90's, 3rd Bn, 73rd Armored Regiment (that is real old school). Great guy, knew he was going places. He had a .50 cal mount in his office that he called "the hurt". If you F'd up, you had a date with the hurt. Good times and a hell of a leader.

I can't agree more SGM. I felt the exact same way when I met him. A leader that truly cares and gives a damn about all branch of the military.

I first met CSM Troxell when he was with I Corps on one of his OEF visits....he was passing through RC-S at Camp Nathan Smith and the Brigade CSM had invited him to go on a mountain hike (Senior Leader Development) I think it was called...anyways, after spending some time with him on the mountain, I can say with the upmost of respect, he is the best man for the job. Folks in our profession can easily tell how real a person is within a very short time, and he came out as the "real deal" kind of leader...
Since my 1st meeting with him in Afghanistan, and bumping into him several times later, I can say this is a man a guy who eats, breathes and lives what Soldier care is about.
