Thanks for letting us know SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL, warfare has been going on for centuries in Afghanistan. there may indeed be some new tactics such as to avoid overhead intel tracking and signal intel systems but the ground tactics have been proven over time against the Indians, the British, the Russians, and the USA and now the Afghani military.

I have to agree, I grew up in Montana where hunting is easy and knowing the lay of the land can get you a huge advantage, the problem here is that we are trying to play football with a basketball court. Afghanistan is not in a place economically to be fighting this war, they can barely stand on their own two feet. If we were just aloud to go out and do our job while we were here the taliban would have been wiped out by now, but war is ugly and the American populous needs to think that we are pulling out. When in reality we have no intention of withdrawal, the structures and people here are permanent. These people will have to change an entire way of life if they want to eliminate the taliban. There culture just isn't set up for a conventional lifestyle. If we want the afghani people to survive without the taliban we are going to have to stop them ourselves.

So we've still got these Jihadists to worry about, in addition to ISIS and all those other loony tuney groups?
