I don't care what branch of service you are in, but the thought of firing these, hearing them fire Volkswagens out of the barrel should send a shiver down your back. It's a shame they'll never fire again in anger, but my hats off to those who have served on the battleships, and to all of the servicemen and women who have served period.

The writers tried to explain that away by making it for her maintenance run...but fuel aside, I can only imagine the material readiness of some of the engineering spaces after about three decades of no PMS. I'm sure there wouldn't be munitions aboard either...and while the vets would be a "miraculous" asset, I don't know what the odds would be of that many across the necessary rates, to get the modern Sailors up to speed. Still...when this came out, I was thinking, "finally...a Navy flick that actually has SWOs in it" :)

I love the part with the water breaking over that bow. When you see that, there is NO doubt that your on a Battleship. In 1979 I stood on the spot where Japan signed the documents. I guess at the time I was part of a lucky few. Before it was moved to Hawaii.

Great points-In all reality, this scene would be about as realistic as getting an A-4 on static display into the air and ready to fight in one day.
