House committee votes to require women to register for draft

This should not be about "equality or feminism" as some put it. It should be about being an American. If the US maintains a selective service requirement, it should be for ALL Americans. Gender should not have any play in this requirement.

If this fails to make it through congress, then congress need to reconsider the political move of allowing women into combat arms, as that has been the largest overall defense against women being required to register for the last decade. Everyone preaches about equality until it is time to hold that equality all across the board. True equality is only real if it is all across the board not when you pick and choose when to make it so. A specific position I feel that should be included in this is that having a child does not make you exempt from the rule as well because men are not allowed that luxury.

Well it's about damn time. Women want equality? Sure, no problem. BUT... if they want the same rights as men they need to take on the same responsibilities. I fully support this though I do have my doubts as to its passing and becoming law.
