Thanks for sharing SP5 Mark Kuzinski. I wonder who came up with the name the Manhattan Project for the atomic bomb development. Manhattan was traded for some trinkets originally when it was part of New Amsterdam.
In any event I am glad you reminded us that POTUS Truman was briefed on the project since he was the one who gave the permission to launch the mission which targeted Japan.

Excellent review, but it missed one item: The timeline should read: 1) Bomb hit Nagasaki. 2) Bomb hit Hiroshima. 3) Soviets declare war on Japan, and the entire Soviet army, naval and air forces are available after the victory on the Eastern Front, ready and determined to decimate Japan. 4) Japan surrenders to Americans immediately.

You point about the Soviets is well taken, but I believe Hiroshima was first, Aug 6 (my birthday).
