The Armed Services is not a "politically Correct" place. If they don't want to conform to the rules, then play some where else. Problems is now the horse is out of the barn and very hard to get it back in and close the door.

And we have ex-Pres. Obama to thank for opening and propping that door wide open...

I seen somewhere how Sikh men that had fair complexion(inability to grow beards had a chin strap with horsehair woven in it and they had their beards and Turbans. So...
going with that, both the Military Reg regarding beards could be accommodated and they could wear their faux beard and Turban off duty only.. There are troops that
Work CID(Army) or OSI(AF)’and wear Civilian clothes.. accommodation could be to permit them to wear their turban and faux beard working in that MOS or AFSC.
As for the Navy. I think their NCIS are all Civilians now.. they’d have to work it out.. if they acquired in Sikh
Personnel. What the Marines come up with to a ccomodate..
prob’ly Like Army, “off-duty” only..
I that accommodation compromise could work

Interesting but not surprising SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. BLUF I hope the Court sides with the Army in this case.
I don't think it would require too much modification for Spcs. Kanwar Singh and Harpal Singh, along with Pvt. Arjan Singh Ghotra to wear their beards and long hair since special operators have been doing that for decades. There would not be an issue with being unkempt since Sikhs keep their beards orderly as part of their faith. The turban however would require a uniform modification which is not reasonable. A stocking cap under their head gear could be an accommodation.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL This issue is moot. I don't understand why we keep seeing the same issue over and over with Sheiks unless the problem isn't he military but is their command not following the rules.
