LTC Stephen F. - Colonel; Absolutely none whatsoever. I mean the Iraqis denied that they had "vast stockpiles of WMD" and that they were working on nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons and they were lying.
Right?
Right?

Sooo did anyone actually expect them to say "Why yes we did now that you mention it"?

SSG Warren Swan - Staff; I think that the same person(s) who thought that Saddam Hussein would stand up and say "Well, yes, we do have vast stockpiles of WMD and we are working on nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons now that you mention it." did.
I'm still waiting for clarification what "linked to the Iranian government" means. Does it mean "Has an Iranian postage stamp."? Does it mean "Is a third cousin of the step-brother of the niece of the cleaning lady who does the home of the Deputy Assistant Under Secretary for Agriculture's Grandfather."?

COL Ted Mc - Well Sir it depends on what you call "linked" even the best hackers leave trails that over time build a profile of them. So in this case, they could've very well been doing the same, got too comfortable and were caught. The Chinese were/are notorious for hacking everything under the sun here. But they always leave a trail. Something small that no one notices until you get enough to make a "link" and a MO, to them.

SSG Warren Swan - Staff; I agree that "it depends on what you call 'linked'". "Terrorism linked convictions" have varied all the way down to a person found to be in the US with an expired visa after they were arrested because someone thought that they might possibly be a potential terrorist.
"Linked" without some quantifiers is essentially meaningless psychobabble.

SPC David S. - Spec; Under CERTAIN conditions "lying" is permitted by ALL religions. (Admittedly those conditions do tend to vary by religion, but that doesn't mean that ANY religion absolutely, categorically, and without exception forbids lying.
Not even the "Ten Commandments" prohibits lying (only the "bearing of false witness").
