PO1 William "Chip" Nagel thanks for posting this thread, this is indeed special being Easter Weekend.
A God-Fearing Man
Someone who is not converted to Christianity can actually still be considered as a God-fearing man because that is what Cornelius was called by the Jews. Although that is not enough to be saved, it does show that Cornelius was seeking to know God and was living a life of obedience that was pleasing to God. Known as “a devout man who feared God with all his household [he] gave alms generously to the people, and prayed continually to God” (Acts 10:2)

One thing that's not listed in this article, and is CRITICAL to understanding how deep the "Jews Only" mindset was...
AFTER the Holy Spirit had made His appearance, clearly indicating "that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost." (verse 46) Then, Simon Peter, who still doesn't seem to understand what God has just done, says..."Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?" (verse 47).
Like, duh, Pete... ya think?
I LOVE Peter, because he is the perfect example of how God sometimes uses "stick training" on us. Like Peter, God has found it necessary to whack me with the "Holy Spirit Stick" MANY times!
