The GOP refusing to give this President any kudos for anything he's done is not surprising anymore, though it is worth noting that the conventional wisdom regarding how Democrats and Republicans treat military servicemembers (with the general consensus being that Republicans are better) is not nearly as cut-and-dry as many would assume.

Me neither. I'd argue 3.6 barely covers inflation. A 1.3 raise? That's almost not even worth the administrative ass-pain to effectuate it.

This was a 1.3% pay raise so an E4 with 4 years gets close $30 per month prior to taxes. So while it is a pay raise, it is not that significant. And I am pretty sure that the budget comes from Congress and goes to the President for approval. This headline makes it seem like the President did this over the objections of Congress.
