Nice use of a pun SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. Ships which tend to be called vessels and never are known as boats in the Navy need to be well balanced to float in calm to rough seas.
Walking the tightrope between operational effectiveness and budget efficiency is required of each of the Service secretaries and chiefs of staff or operations as in the case of the Navy.

LTC Stephen F. wow, couldn't have agreed more, budget efficiency is a must. I know you know the old saying in the Army, " make haste use waste" (use what you got and use it to best of your ability!

The best way to be balanced is to bring ships out of the reserve fleet and keep them maintained with competent sailors who know the ships otherwise they will go work for the civilian world and the knowledge will be lost until we spend millions training up new crews when the peace dividend is gone in the near future. I wonder how many ships we have in PA, HI, CA and other mothball sites that can be mustered up so we can keep our navy up to par with our enemies!

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL - We still have the lead in space operations and we can see the enemy until someone like Korea, China or Russia purposely send a sattellite on a kamikazie mission mission to blind us like sending a junk satellite as a sabot round. Funny how China does not want us to use the THAAD against the Bastard in North Korea but China does little to rain in the temper tantrum nukelover!http://www.businessinsider.com/thaad-missile-defense-south-korea-north-2016

My issues as an Old Sailor are that some believe because we are the most advanced Navy we can do things with less ships. I agree we are most advanced, however, how does that advance ship do something when its not on station? It cant project strength or do anything else when its busy 2000 miles away with another issue. You don't just have to be the most advanced, you actually need enough ship to be on-station.
