Just another misdirection. Men register for the draft in the event of a national emergency and we need lots of soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines quickly. Many men, perhaps most would be pushed into combat arms MOS's and will have no choice (with few legal exceptions or desertion or dodging the draft) to go into the MOS they are assigned.

Women, right now, in our upside down world, will have the OPTION of trying to enter and qualify in combat arms MOS's. They cannot be forced into them. Is someone suggesting we conscript 18 year old high school girls and force them into combat arms MOS's? I hope not. That would be disgraceful. If we draft women do they get to pick their MOS and force more men into combat arms jobs because they would fill out all of the support roles? Doesn't sound like the ever elusive equality we like to talk about these days in the armed forces.

The reality is the system is still not equal (and it never will be). Women will have the option to try to make it into combat arms MOS's. Men can be forced into them. That is not equality. We misuse the word equal/equality a lot these days.

Common sense of analysis of a worst case scenario.

Wow, SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL "It’s time for women to register for the draft" That is newsworthy my friend. For the Army and USMC chiefs to both weigh in on this subject is a very somber moment,

LTC Stephen F. I like the concept, one team one fight. Equality for all to defend DUTY HONOR COUNTRY in time of war.

So, since I haven't seen any females weigh in on this, I will. Absolutely. I've been hoping they would for some time now. It gives males less to complain about when it comes to equality in the military. We never asked to be excluded. I completely agree and I hope to see it go into effect.
