I think I can commend the President for this move. Seeing how I did a paper on Iran and how the government works, the President is putting the ball in Iran's court. Plus, when Rohani was elelcted President, the lines of communications opened up because he's more moderate compared to Ahmadinejad and he has better relationships with the Ayatollah and the hardliners. If you knew the demographics of Iran, you would see a country with an unemployment rate somewhere in the 30s and 70% of the population are military aged males. Think about the numbers of their forces if we were to go to war. Not saying we'd lose, but that's a formidable opponent, whether it be in the Air, at Sea or on land. With all the cuts and draw downs were doing here, there's no way we're ready to war if it were with Iran. So we can criticize the President all we want, but he's looking at the grander scheme of things.

At face value diplomacy worked for the nuclear deal and the release of our fellow American citizens. If one understands the history of diplomacy in regards to the United States and dealing with foes one would conclude without bias that diplomacy in most cases is beneficial for both or multiple parties involved. The United States will not get everything we want, but through diplomacy and compromise we can walk out with a best alternative to a negotiated agreement. What say you?

He did the right thing, and for once in DC something was done under wraps and no one snitched to the media ahead of time. But he won't get credit for a job well done because of those who think might makes right in almost every case...especially when they know they're not going. But for those who think "might makes right" remember the person who made that slogan got his butt beat in a parking lot (Jon Rhee Karate). Glad to see these folks coming home.
