LTC Stephen F. #8! My elder son had brain surgery for an ‘brain abscess’ in 2004. When we were able to see him the next morning in ‘recovery’, the dry erase board had a ‘life plan’ depicting how the night nurse could advance her life and enhance her educational experiences. (He was ‘educated and caring’).

Thanks for posting COL Mikel J. Burroughs [I have added my thoughts in brackets]
1. Get enough sleep. [much easier said than done but very valuable.]
2. Smile. [benefits yourself and most of teh people you come in contact with. Genuine smiles are good while forces smiles are not. Each Sunday IO greet hundreds with a smile at church where I serve as an usher - I have seen many people go from sadness or apathy to a warm smile in response
3. De-clutter the brain. [spend less time on your smart phone, watching TV and getting information form the web. Smend more time in conversation with friends and family members and read a good book]
4. Express gratitude. [Thankfulness is good and aligns well with the God's word. Thank God and thank people whenever you can - don't do it to attract attention to yourself but to bless other people.]
5. Eat right. [Much easier said than done unless you live on a self sufficient farm.]
6. Learn to breathe. [Made great sense after my lings were flooded following mitral-valve repair surgery]
7. Meditate. [Meditate on something makes good sense. Meditating on the scriptures is great. clearing your mind to focus on nothing is not.]
8. Create a vision board. [this may help many]
9. Play around. [playing with children, pets and your spouse is good for you and those you play with.]
10. Be silent. [you learn much more by listening than by speaking.]
11. Worry. [think through is much better way of describing working through alternative scenarios and their ramifications.]
12. Plan ahead. [plan out what you intend or would like to do. I always submit my plans for the day to the Lord and have learned to be flexible.]
13. Visualize anything positive. [focus on the Lord and his word and what he has done for you over the years.]
14. Smell something relaxing. [he smell of cookies, bread baking, coffee brewing, a fire in the fireplace with the flue open, clothes coming out of the dryer, and so many other things which are inexpensive and readily available can bring pleasure to us.]
15 Hang out. [relaxing with family and friends in genuine conversation is great and soothing as well.]
