Great read SFC, thanks for sharing. PT is such a instrumental part of my day. I will definitely be passing this article on to my NCOs and troops.

Todayès Army, and military in general, is a far cry from what it was during and after the Vietnam era. I served in the 80s and things were well different from what the standards and expectations of soldiers, marines, airmen, navy and coast guard soldiers are today. Back in the 80s, even, if ya failed your PT Test or couldnèt keep up on the runs, one was sent to remedial PT and if that did not work, folks were chaptered out. We were expected to maintain diet and physical abilities whenever we could and were expected to do the leg lifts, sit ups, push ups and the companyébrigade runs. Some of the runs in Berlin were seemingly long and drawn out. Back in the day folks were expected to pass the PT Test which consisted of Pushups and sit ups and the two mile run. One had to run the two miles under 15 minutes.
