Been some excellent posts today. Thanks, sir, for one more. I don't know what it is, but it seems like we can go days with nothing but marshmallow puff, and then get some excellent material all in a couple days. Maybe it's that I knocked out all my mandatory online training, and kept RP up all day while doing it.

LTC Yinon Weiss General McClellan did well with both a 'post' and a saddle named after him!

Good point, Sergeant Major. And, OBTW, it was a saddle he invented, which remained "the" Army saddle for decades after. He also has McClellan Gate at Arlington in his honor. Grant described him as a "mystery" - the troops loved him, he was an organizational genius and the concept of the Peninsula Campaign was brilliant, but he lacked a tenacity in execution that has been described above as hesitation. Hindsight being 20-20, we can fault him for not mastering a form of warfare that evolved out of the war in which he fought the opening battles. Can't we?
