A part of me died on the 7th of September when I was notified of Brandon's passing. I remember counseling him as a young 2LT when I was his 1SG and he was one of my newly appointed PL's. CPT Walters will be missed. Until Valhalla my friend.

In Vietnam, our company as a whole was very tight but our platoon was even tighter, we were brothers from different mothers. When we lost one in those triple canopy jungles in the Nam, we always tried to do all we could to save them. The medic/s were always occupied and did all they could but they were not doctors. We all have our destinies prewritten before we were even born. Sorry for your lost Top, may Cpt Walters RIP, as well as all my brothers from the 1/18th who did not make it back home, Amen!

As per my clinical research on combat trauma, I find that when one unit member is wounded, all feel wounded to varying degrees; and when one was killed, they all felt dead to varying degrees.And consider how often this happens. Therefore, when deployment ends, they will exhibit compacted grief that is rarely addressed at VAC's.

SFC William Farrell - I believe that the choices we make create our destinies as God grants us free will. In clinical terms we refer to this as exhibiting an internal locus of control. Those who exhibit an external locus are at risk of added stress in reality.

SSgt Richard Kensinger - I have been there many times SSG Richard, it's really hard to explain the pain and grief I went through and when we got back from our missions. I used to sit on the cots of those who were KIA in disbelief with the reality they were no longer with us. After we got back from a search and destroy mission, we were always together like a big family and that's what they were, family, my brothers forever!
