"A5" Alfa Company Senior Enlisted
Senior enlisted (A5) for NMCB 3 Alfa Company during homeport 1995 and the Camp Covington, Guam deployment. Oversaw an average of 150 personnel of Construction Mechanics (CM) and Heavy Equipment Operators (EO) who perform horizontal construction projects, such as building site preparation and road paving, along with rock crusher operations. The Alfa Company shops perform all of the vehicle maintenance from small engines up to all types of heavy equipment and cranes. Next homeport was assigned & trained as senior enlisted for a 100-man detachment to Tusla, Bosnia. Two weeks prior to deployment NATO plans changed and assign the mission to the Army Corps of Engineers. Reassigned as Senior Enlisted Det Chief with Det 3 Souda Bay, Crete, Greece for the Rota, Spain European deployment.

Transportation Maintenance & Operations Chief, Naval Air Station Public Works Department, Keflavik, Iceland, Aug 1991 – Feb 1995. Maintained a fleet of 600 reduced to 300+ vehicles (snow removal, construction, and light vehicles. Managed 100 host nationals & 10 military personnel, achieving an availability goal of 85% or better, averaging 93% during tenure. Awarded Navy Marine Corps Achievement Medal for performance from 2 Star Commander Fleet Keflavik.

20th NCR R-50 Instructor Sqd Leader
I held a temporary assignment at the 20th Naval Construction Regiment (NCR) with the R-50 Military Skills Training Department. My temporary assignment was between transfers while waiting for my clearance approval for my next position in Washington, D.C. Worked for GSGT Green, USMC, as an assistant instructor for Squad Leader training. Much of the classroom training of NCBC Gulfport Battalion students was held up north at Camp Shelby, MS along with practical training skills out in the field. Also assisted GSGT Green with Seabee Battalion training classes during every Gulfport Battalion's pre-deployment quals during this time period which included being a range coach at the rifle & pistol range. Transferred to Washington, D.C. when my TS (SCI) clearance was approved.

For Rota, Spain deployment was assigned to NMCB 3 Det Souda Bay, Crete, Greece, Senior Enlisted Advisor. Managed several small base projects for several months prior to transferring to the Fleet Reserve after 21 years of active duty. Awarded Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal at retirement.

NMCB 3 "A5" senior enlisted for Alfa Co while deployed to Guam. Managed projects with EO Chiefs and Alfa Company shop operations with CM Chiefs. No major storms during this deployment and was uneventful. Had conflict with A6 Co. Commander and after a few months, convinced S3 Operations that A6 need to be replaced. The new A6 Lt D’Angelo was super.
