Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)
I deployed with the 293rd INF of the Indiana Army National Guard (yet anotherlong story). Suffice it to say, I had to beg and call in every favor to deploy one more time before retiring. Arriving in Kuwait to stage, I was detached and ended up as the NCOIC of a Logistical Transition Team. I had 27 Soldiers and Officers from nine different units

I arrived late, on day one of Desert Storm. Literally missed receiving the Desert Shield campaign star by less than four hours. Not that it matters, but sharp Soldiers notice the discrepancy, as it looks like I'm out uniform! More on my late arrival later,under assignments.
