Riot Control
Capt Fessler became 82nd IG, the scumbag first sergeant had his evil wish come true. When we didn't deploy to the steps of the White House, Watts LA, Newark NJ,or Detroit. That prick had me on guard duty or KP everyday. 1st the 1/325 motor-pool was sabotaged, some1 painted swastikas on all the CO's & MP's jeeps. FBI ordered no more guard duty for me. Then, after clean up duty at the battalion HQ, the entire joint blew flat. I mean, 1 moment it was a building, the next it was a block long pile, so no more cleanup of that place. Then he assigned me to be on cleanup detail of Brigade HQ, & that building had a 2 story hole in it from explosion. I love Smoke Bomb Hill, & my SF friends. I was ordered to sit on a chair 8 hrs a day outside 1st Sgt office on ETS MP's escorted me off base. :-)

My hepatitis flared up again, & though doctors never told me not to drink, this time the flareup happened within minutes of drinking the Ronrico 151, and even my eyes had became dark yellow. I told the doctors what I thought was causing the flareup's, and they agreed I should stop drinking. I haven't had a drink to this day. 53 years & counting, but my liver and pancreas are still shot. Half of my friends were afflicted with hepatitis C, because of me!

My hepatitis flared up again. I remember several doctors being in awe about how high my blood levels were, after a few days everything went to normal, so they discharged me to 30 day leave. My first Sgt, was a nasty, bitter man & he fixated his hate towards me. Perhaps it was because he was a black man who had a skin condition, that made him appear to have big white skin blotches all over his face, arms & hands. He told me that, "God help you, if Capt Fessler ever leaves this company. Your ass will be mine." He felt Capt Fessler was treating me special, and he hated me for it. I, then told him, it was he who was lucky, because if I were healthy, I would have left him toothless for saying that to me. I went on leave back to NJ, but a week later I was back in the hospital in NJ

Acting Supply Sergeant
I was lucky when I reported to the 82nd, my CO was Capt. Lorenzo E Fessler, a man who believed I saved his life. He'd been shot in the head by a 50 cal, just as he'd jumped off the truck the day he arrived. Of course he was unconscious as I dragged him back on the truck, & a week later, I was in the 3d Field Hospital in Saigon right next to him. He'd reverted to a childhood, asking me for lollipops in baby-talk. The 50 made a perfect scar, is now a perfect part in his nappy hair. I was shocked, cause he was a bloody mess when I'd dragged him to the truck, & just wanted to get him to the field hospital less than a mile away. Oh yeah, I just remembered. I had gone into a coma in Saigon, and there was a napalmed VC in his old bunk, so I asked about the Lt, & was told he'd died.
