I was born in Chicago, Ill in 1946 and in 1951 we moved to my Dad's home town of Whitley City, Kentucky. Dad was working for an auto transport company which moved us to Forest Park, Georgia in 1956. Grow up there and was drafted by the Army in 1966. After being Riffed in 1973, took the family to Daytona Beach, Fl to finish my college degree. Couldn't hide a flying job so I went to work for JC Penney Catalog. Still here in the Atlanta area.

I was a very junior Captain and was selected to be the XO of the aviation company. We supported all of the division general officers and the chief of staff as well as other units.

I was a training officer for an Infantry Advanced Individual Training Company. We were supposed to have two training officers per company but there was one training officer per company. That made for long working hours.

I was an assault helicopter pilot then a section leader. Then after seven months I became the executive officer of the 163rd Aviation Company. We flew the three generals of the 101st Airborne Division.
