About

1st Battalion, 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment trains Paratroopers in order to provide the Department of Defense with Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines to conduct airborne operations anywhere DOD-wide, forge the Paratrooper spirit in the junior leadership of the DOD and to provide a world-class quality of life for our Soldiers, Civilians, and Army Families.

What you learn

Students are trained by the same Platoon Sergeants, Section Sergeants, and Squad Leaders for all three phases of training, (Ground, Tower, and Jump). The execution of this teaching philosophy strengthens unit cohesion, discipline, and supervision while providing quality paratroopers throughout the force.

How to prepare

1) ALL students must meet the weight requirement of 110 lbs (in ACUs) to attend the Basic Airborne Course. Students must MAINTAIN this weight throughout training and jump week. If a student falls under the minimum weight limit they will be released from the course. The 110 lbs standard is the minimum acceptable weight to meet the minimum 160lbs weight for jumping the T-11ATPS. (110+T-11 weight = 162.2)

Description of the Flexed Arm Hang: Students are required to mount the bar from a fully extended hang position with the palms of the hands facing the body. The students, upon receiving the command to pull themselves up, will pull their body weight until the head and chin are above the bar with the bar at nametape level. Once in this position, the student is required to hold this position for 20 seconds, thus demonstrating the ability to hold a slip with the T-11 ATPS.
