One has to 'earn' the right? I'll round file this right next to the beret and patch ceremonies. It'll fit easily inside the 'put your rank on your reflective belt' idea.

Having to "earn the right" to name a tank is a very recent development
Almost as new as commander's having the "right" to decide what tank names are "appropriate"
