Worst parts of holding this position
According to an August 1995 USAF Occupation Survey of the Control and Control (AFSC 1C3X1) career
ladder - http://1.usa.gov/1NxRi7U, overall job satisfaction responses were lower than those previously surveyed in the Command and Control career ladder in 1987, and comparatively lower than a sample of similar Air Force personnel surveyed in 1994.
According to an Inspector General (IG) Report dated 15 March 1996 - http://bit.ly/1MXp6LR, SORTS was identified as ineffective in accomplishing its highest priorities—supporting crisis response and deliberate planning. As a result, the NCA, CJCS, and Commanders of Unified Commands couldn't rely on SORTS to plan deployments, determine authoritative unit status or location; assess execution of Operations Plans; or make effective, time-sensitive decisions. And commissioned officers were eliminated from the command and control career field this same year.
