Advice on how to prepare for this position
Getting your CDL is probably one of the best decisions you'll ever make.
I'm writing today to encourage everyone who is considering CDL training to absolutely follow through and do it! You will not regret it!
About 3 years ago, I officially retired from Corporate America and got my CDL. I have never looked back and absolutely love what I do. In fact, I did so well that I bought my own truck!
Now that I am quickly approaching my 50's, I have more time and appreciation to reflect on my military experience and how young I was when I got out. Over the next 20 years, I achieved many great things in my career. However, there were some bumps along the way and many times I had to tighten my belt.
If you have your CDL, you can walk through life in full confidence that when times get tough you can always jump back in a truck. That's what I was missing and many other professionals who find themselves between jobs. Without a skill trade to fall back on, many managers find the job search extremely painful. You can avoid this same scenario by preparing for it.
Will you make a career out of driving? Who knows! Maybe you'll love it like I do. But one thing is for sure, you are better off having CDL experience than without it.
I would enjoy connecting with others in the trucking industry. Everyone is welcome to send an invitation to connect. Cheers!
