I joined the military in 1992 served 8 years in the Marine Corps active duty. I got out and joined the Army reserves. I been with the Army Reserve since 2002 had went on 3 major deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan and work as an instructor and a Observed Control Trainer from 2007-2012 during the mobilizations . I returned to my home unit and for the past few years have been trying to retire. I have been told that I don't have enough points. I was told that my Marine Corps active duty points had not transfer I presented my DD214 which showed my time served in the Corps. It still does not show. Here it is 2024 I had not received a 20 year letter which I was told I needed to retire. My LES shows that I have 30 years of service I am ready to retire and I feel its becoming frustrating with this process. I need some guidance

SFC (Join to see), contact USAR Retirement Services*. Explain the issue you're having and your efforts to correct it.

Additionally, if you haven't started on 'your retirement journey', then you need to start now*. There are a number of items you will want to ensure are taken care of (record wise) and a few items that you must accomplish prior to being transferred to the Retired Reserve.

Contact a member of congress, all 3! US house member and both senators. File an Art 138 complaint and contact reserve IG. Do NOT retire until you have the letter in hand! Good lyck! Hooah and oohrah!

That’s a good idea. Too bad us veterans have to go through all that red tape.

Just keep working for what you want because the military is slow and not always right. Good luck
