A federal judge in Colorado has ruled that Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) can block critics on Twitter, reaching a dramatically different result from other First Amendment court battles involving prominent government officials in the age of social media.
The most famous of those other cases, involving former President Donald Trump, led to multiple rulings finding his practice of blocking Twitter critics unconstitutional while he was in office—only to be tossed as moot following President Joe Biden’s election. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) settled her lawsuit and apologized when sued for the same practice.

I always get a laugh out of people who believe the headlines without going further into the issue. The twitter account in question is her personal twitter account - not her official twitter account - which begs the question, can public figures expect the same rights as non public figures when it comes to their private and personal lives?

There is a distinct difference though in her case and that of the others... She has multiple twitter accounts. She did not block the person from her official account as a GOP representative, but rather from her private account. There is a difference. Trump used his private account rather actively to comment and communicate with followers etc and so did Cortez... Boebert did not, has not, does not.
